In an article on Forbes.com, Tom Doherty, president of Tor Books, said he expects that Robert Jordan will, "submit the final book in 2008 for publication in 2009." That's still two years away and many things can happen between now and then so don't put this in your calendar in ink just yet.

Robert Jordan is busy writing Book 12 as you read this. His direct quote is, "I guarantee that Book 12 will be published shortly after I finish writing it." He is also absolutely certain that this will be the final book of the series, no matter how long, because there are no more stopping points that would allow him to write two or more coherent books. Because this will easily be the longest book of the series it will probably not be published until 2009. He does have a tenative title, A Memory of Light.
