whats good for Sansa isnt good for Cersei and vice-versa... plenty has happened to both characters both good and horrible. (kidnapped, children dieing, what happened to joff might be good in ones eyes but not another)
if you are looking for some over-all redeeming quality that is not relative to one character, it took me awhile to think of one that is not too lame, but i found one that could be argued "good". Martin's books are rather grim, i wont argue with that.
ok here it is:
Justice.
against the backdrop of murder, war, incest, fear, turmoil...
violence in the novels is used to serve justice.
(im not one to stand for justice personally in any name, i rather prefer to attach myself to specific characters and find whats good for them, but thats just me :P)
