This is a weird problem developed a while ago on my laptop

the laptop would on occassion, freeze usually during the middle of me surfinf the net. and after I restart, I would get a message telling me that "one of my diaks need to have its consistency checked", and after this it goes back to windows.

what is the problem? is there something wrong with my hard driver?
