Any photographers around?

I'm a passionate photographer who really enjoys taking pictures in my spare time.

Normally work as a project manager, but it really is relaxing to me often when I get home to grab my camera and just go out and take pictures for half an hour or more..

I think photography would be sweet, but I have 0 knowledge in the area.

Although, I have a sweet idea for a picture/collage that I want to do after I take courses at school.

Take a picture of an object outside (for ex a tree) and take a picture exactly like it the next day, every day for 365 days. Its been done right? Wrong. Next, I would cut the pictures into 1/365th each, and combine one sliver from each picture into one big one. So the first day would be day 1, last : 365. So as you looked at it left to right, you would watch the tree grow over a course of one year, along with watching weather affect it over 1 year.

I don't want to sound cocky by thinking it is an uber idea and ask for no one to take it.... but plz, no one take it.

Not a bad idea at all... I think you should definately go for it..

which, I would.... but It would look mediocre at best if I did it now, need to get me some learnin and a better camera, oh, and a stand to keep the camera in the exact place.

What camera do you have now?

would nt class myself as a photographer but i do like taking the odd snap

using a fujifilm finepixa820 atm

nice little camera and does everything i need it to do

oh, some 'casual' camera, more for just vacation/holiday kind of pictures, not really for art. Can't find the model name right now.

You'd be surprised how many "amateur" photographers that start out like that =)

Don't belittle the good ole pocket camera... You can create surprisingly good pictures with that... and often... to take a captivating picture you dont need a state-of-the-art camera... you just need something that can re-tell a story...

Of course a DSLR had a clear technical advantage over pocket cameras... but I dont see a need for people to go out and spend as much money on it as I have if they dont require those features/functions from the camera.
