GRRM shorts
So has anyone here read Martin's older sci-fi stories? I'm not a big fan of the genre but my appreciation for ASoIaF prompted me to check some of it out. I thought the stories in A Song for Lya had the expected Martin-esque touches on them, not predictable and often depressing with some ironic humor. The book is a bound version of various independent short stories.
Another book, Tuf Voyaging was put together from a serial of related short stories. It's violent but hilarious and based on an opportunistic space merchant named Haviland Tuf (yes, I borrowed the name). Both are definitely worth the time unless you just hate science fiction. |

I haven't heard of those. I do know of another series that is set in space yet has the same gritty feeling as ASoIaF. It's a woman author.. I just can't remember it offhand.

Same here, I've been waiting for DoD for a long time now.

He seems to be busy these last few years doing conventions, signings, repackaging, re-repackaging and re-re-repackaging his stories in various forms of art, collectables and games, etc. Maybe he needed to take a break or perhaps it's just a good money-maker but he seems to be writing ADWD in his spare time; he's been 'almost finished' for a few years now. Originally he said it would be the second half of the AFFC timeline with the other characters split into another book.
