favourite writers going to dust

well it was a sad day when david gemell died i grew up with his books and now it looks like my all time favourite writer is comming to an end.

terry pratchett has proberbly one of the most loved series in fiction and that of course is the disc world novels with many films and tv specials having been made out of them. but now hes been diagnosed with altzimers (i know its spelt wrong). a sad day while he says he will be doing a few more books i doubt there will be many more as my grandmother had it as well and it can hit hard and they go down fast, he has admitted he cant type very well but has a excellent speach recognition programme which he will use for his books in the future i wish him well and cross fingers he will be around for a long time and give even more enjoyment to me and others who love his books.
i've met him 3 times in my travels and hes a loverly man with great wit

I've read a few David Gemell books in my time and enjoyed most of them as for Terry Pratchet ive met him once when i was a kid he was touring the school's in the midlands promoting book writing even though i was young he was very down to earth and looking back he reacted very well with young kids.Shmae to hear about is illness i hope todays technology helps to keep him doing what he does best.

reminded me of that song, all we are is dust in the wind.

Of writers... all beauty is transient so they say; and few who ache at its passing, and even fewer who relish the ache.

sad to hear the news, and yet i feel more appreciative.

thanks for the post.

best wishes,

radicalink

terry pratchetts most prodest moment was when after a servey in european book stores he found out his were the most stolen books by far of any writers they sold. says alot about the man most writers would be foaming at the mouth with how much money they were loosing.

I'm currently reading Book 10 of The Wheel of Time (Crossroads of Twilight), but poor ole Robert Jordan (real name James Oliver Rigney, Jr.) died of cancer before finishing the last book. The good news is another author Brandon Sanderson has agreed to finish the last book (Book 12 - A Memory of Light) due for completion sometime in the autumn. So im hoping ill have finished book 11 by then!
