David Gemmell is my favorite author. He was writing an adaptation to Troy (finished his first book, Lord of the Silver Bow), when he suddenly passed away after heart surgery.
If you have never read his work I strongly recommend his Dranei Saga, as well as the Rigante Saga (Sword in the Storm is the first of four). The Dranai saga jumps around alot revisiting Druss the Legend and later Skilgannon the Damned so his publishing dates and chronilogical orders are a bit messed up. He is great Heroic Fantasy though.

Im on the last book in the 1000 orcs set...The Two Swords. I have to go back and start with homeland as soon as im done though. lol it too hard not knowing what happened in those books, escpecially since he always makes references to them in his newer books.
