Sword of Truth

Anyone else read Sword of Truth? The last book in the series is coming out this November if anyone was wondering. If you have read the series or any of the books what do you think of it?

I've read the whole series up to date...

and i think the first two books were some of the best fantasy novels ever written. Unfortunately, none of the books that followed were ever as good as the first two.

Number 3 was ok, and Num 4 wasn't bad but book 5 was just god-awful. It was so bad i almost didn't get the sixth book, which would have been shame bc it was much better.

All in all, the first two books are a must read for any fantasy fan, but if you decide to skip book 3 and up you want be missing much.

Great series. I think I missed the last book in the series, but I haven't had time to read, or the money to spend on a $20 hardback book. I agree that series that get this drawn out tend to be tedious, but I like it all the same. Just look at the Wheel of Time series.

I do agree that the best two books in the series were 1 and 2 for sure, and unfortunately the books started getting way to philosophical after awhile. Nonetheless the series is still a good one and the last book is sure to have more surprises.

The wheel of time was great, although it is not as mature a read as sword of truth the content is still great. I found the wheel of time kept my interest pretty much throughout every book too. Only thing is, when are the last two books coming out seeing as how Robert Jordan is still battling that disease.

I hate series that aren't finished yet :S

I'm up to date on the Wheel of Time series too

I really enjoyed the first couple books (1-5), but again i found the ones that came after to be a little lacking... though for different reasons then the Sword of Truth series. Goodkind just wrote some mediocre to bad books during the middle part of the series...

with Jorden, In the first couple books the story played out through no more then 3 or 4 perspectives/plot arcs (some good guys here, some other good guys over there and of course the occasional scene with villains and supporting characters); and it worked really well. But by the later books, the cast and story just got so large that the books became too cumbersome. I can't remember which book in was (either 8,9 or 10) but i remember reading one that was nearly a 1000 pages (700+ at the very least) that contained no story advancement at all in any of the plot arcs... it was all build up for the following book. And that doesn't make for a fun read when you pay $40+ for it and have to wait a year for the next one

Fortunately though, now that he is down to the last books the story has started to come together again, (with many of the sub-plots finished and the main coming to a head,) and has become much more enjoyable because of it.

i thought both the wheel of time and the sword of truth series were going to be wrapped up in the next book for each. I'm pretty sure thats the case and if it isn't, i may not read them then, i think a 99 book series is a bit much and they've already milked me for too much money as it is by dragging the series out.

Sword of Truth has one book left, and Robert Jordan said he wanted to finish The Wheel of Time in two more books even if the last one had to be 2000 words.

yeah Terry GOodkind had a bit of a rivalry with Robert Jordan for a while. Sword of truth books are realy good, wheel of time ones are about the same.

Are non-members allowed to post here? I assume so or they wouldnt be public? And besides, i read a post that appliers can look around.

Anyway, this is my favourite series so far. I've just finished reading Phantom and cant wait for the last one to come out. Before this I read wheel of time and didnt think it could be matched - well i was wrong. The SoT series has had me hooked from start to finish.

My nick comes from Panisrahl, which is what my name was in WoW but then anyone who had ever read the books kept saying to me "You realise that Panisrahl was a kiddie-fiddler?". I just liked the name, I was playing a warlock so it seemed apt. Anyway, I decided to change it. I think it was for the best.
