Hyperion Cantos
Just finished the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons. Very much a thinking person's sci-fi. It makes you think a great deal (and you'll get lost if you don't) but it really brings together some great concepts. IMO, the hallmark of great scifi is that it makes you think. Great characters, great story about a hopeless struggle, inspiration, and pain. The human condition if you will.
Not a quick nor an easy read, but entirely worthwhile.
