So yeah im really into war history but I cant stick with plain fact books. I mainly read a lot of first person accounts from ww1/ww2/Korea/Vietnam and was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions.
Main books ive already read.... -Band of Brothers: Ambrose -Beyond Band of Brothers: Richard Winters -The Coldest War: James Brady -The Scariest Place in the World: James Brady -Donald Burgett's series, "Airborne in ww2" |

It focuses on the fact that the soldiers in WW2 were not professionals. They were citizens who were forced to take up arms because of the circumstances. That's essentially the theme of the book.

That new book on the CIA is reeeally good. It's not exactly a war book, but about how the CIA has been fucking up since it was founded. I'd definitely recommend it. New York Times sure loved it.

Well, if you are interested in some Alternative History, read some Harry Turtledove. This guy does a great job at representing things "they way the could have gone." Such as what would have happended had the South won the Civil War and so on. hes got some great work out there.
