Catch 22

by far my favorite book =] if u havent read it... READ IT idk if someones alrdy made a thread on it but still its my favorite book love it, was hilarous and written so ingeniously the first 30 chapters describes events hazily each runthrough gives more info on the last, at first i thought i was skipping pages but later found out thats what the book was supposed to feel like... its all out of order... loved it confused the heck outta me while making me laugh too bad the authers sequal was a letdown and he never wrote anything even remotely close to as good as this...
"When I read something saying I've not done anything as good as Catch-22, I'm tempted to reply, 'Who has?'" -Joseph Heller
great author though still love the book any1 else agree disagree have any comments or wish to discuss the book?

I read this. I try to read any book-lovers "favourite books" I meet and this was a friends of mine.

Lets just say that if you read this, read it with an open mind. It is bloody confusing. Some of it is pretty funny, alot of it is very frustrating but generally its just too confusing.

Basically, its all about an American airforce seargent (i think) in WW2 who had to do a certain number of bombing runs in order to get out of combat. He's the main character but each chapter concentrates on another character in his world - his superiors and fellow aviators. The characters are great, and it tells alot of interesting stories about each of them, but it jumps about between them which makes it hard to keep track of them.

Its worth a read.

Haha I love this book. It was the one book that I was assigned to read that I actually read last year.

Satire at it's best.

This is an excellent novel. It's a story about a war, but there's just enough satire and foolishness to make it funny. Every character has a unique and quirky personality. Milo is my favorite. :P

Wellll... readin this thread and seeing it in The Invisible made me wanna read it... so i spent the 16.99 on it and bought it...

I must say I dont know whether or not itwas good. I found myself barely making it through some chapters, while others kept me pretty interested.

It jumped bakc and forth a lot, but I felt that teh events that were happening weren't really relevant anyway so it didn't matter.

The book made me think of it as more as a chain of thoughts rather then actual events. Which made me not like it so much. The characters were funny, and a lot of the thigns made me laugh.

I wouldn't read it again though, haha. Too many pages havin to be super speed read to help me get through...

Just finished it. This is by far my favorite book. It is confusing, but that is half of the point of it. U are supposed to be confused because no one in Yossarian's squad really knows entirly what is going on.
