Terry Goodkind, The Wizards First Rule (series)

I hardly ever read non-fiction unless required to, for school and such. I want to be entertained when I read for my own enjoyment, and this series has been entertaining me for the last three years. By far the best Fantasy book I have ever read. What I really liked about it is how complete each novel is. Book six ends at the end of book six and not in book seven. Each one is a seperate entity. I'm currently waiting for the last one to come out in October (#11).

I highly recomend it.

A great series of book, right up there with Robert Jordans wheel of time series. They actualy had a bit of a rivalry in the earlier books lol.

There is already a Sword of Truth thread, however I will say that this is an amazing series and I can't wait for the last book to be released in November.

Terry, I like his work. Robert Jordan has just never done it for me though. Read a couple and, meh.... I know others like him just fine. Different tastes.

I loved the sword of truth series up until book 5 or so, when it got wayyy too BDSM with those torture chicks tooled up in red leather and going orgasmic over pain. When I read a book I don't want to go through hundreds of pages of the author's fetish. Supposedly it gets better around book 6 or so, but I have no interest in reading through the sexual fantasies of a dirty old man.

The first 2 books in the series were absolutely amazing, but the series just gets more and more philosophical after that, although the last couple books have been pretty good, I would say the worst book by far in the series is book 7, Pillars of Creation. The entire book is about characters that I don't give a shit about, it says "Richard" like 2 times, pisses me off to cause that's the book I'm on right now since I'm re-reading the series to get up to date and ready for the last book in the series.

I like Goodkind's work but after around Pillars of Creation I kinda lost interest. I'll probably end up rereading through the whole series once it's done.
