Hemmingway fans out there:Your favorite?
Im so glad that this guild has a book discussion!! I am an absolute nut when it comes to reading books. While my favorite book by far is 1984(2+2=5 gives me a cold shiver), my favorite author is Hemmingway. His style of simple writing is ingenius in its own right. For the other fans out there, whats your favorite piece of his, I would have to say either The Sun also Rises or Farewell to Arms. The ending when henry walks home in the rain after his child and wife die is one of the most moving pieces of literature ive ever read.

Gonna have to go with Old Man and the Sea. Not only did it net him a Pulitzer and a Nobel, it is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest pieces of american fiction ever written.

The old man is pretty much the antithesis to every emo kid ever. I'll give him that. Farewell to Arms is my favorite though. Old Man and the Sea was kind of a snoozer for me. Reading about fishing is about the same as reading about mowing the lawn. Elegantly written? Yes. Exciting? Not for me.
