[Requiem]

Well on my urge to create yet another site (I have some strange addiction I think lol), I created a site called GoonChan. It's a 100% free imageboard community site, based on the popular Japanese Futaba Channel.

If anyone is wondering why I have a "random" channel, it appears prudent so it lets all the idiots congregate in a single area without spilling out all over the place among the other channels (Channels = Boards). It's sort of like the hotspot of idiocy. Basically, for those that know what /b/ in other channel sites is, I changed it to /r/ for my site so I don't follow the same trend, although it will probably end up just like /b/ if it ever gets popular. Trying to admin such boards (if it gets too popular) is pretty much impossible unless I have an army of moderators, so I guess in a way this just acts like a funnel system, so I can keep track of 90% of the asshattery in a single place (aka /r/). On another note, I never really understood why it's called /b/ for the random board in a lot of chan sites, I'm guessing it's because it was once abc order and b just happened to be random, and it caught on from there?

Why did I make a Chan to begin with? I suppose since I've done basically everything else that I wanted to try out, seo site, vbulletin boards, phpboards, arcade site, art site, etc.. I guess it's just next on the list.

This site should be considered "NOT SAFE FOR WORK", since anyone can post anything anonymously (as in you never register, nor do you need to put in a name. You can simply write a post and/or add an image, and click submit).

Anyhow, there are 10 boards so far, I'll be adding more later. The site is still pretty much under construction. Feel free to try this out, let me know if there are any bugs, which there probably will be for the first while.

Thanks. Should I change /r/ to /b/, since so many people are accustomed to having /b/ as random? Or should I go my own direction and just use /r/?

Its really up to you TBH, just there are some not so good things associated with /b/...

You should probably use /b/ because its just the default of all *chans imo.

I've been thinking about that, but there are 2 issues that really come to mind..

1) It will just be "another /b/ channel" with the same format, doesn't make mine unique if I copy others, which I'm trying not to do.

2) There are *some* things associated with /b/ that are not very becoming.. if you know what I mean.

Req, this is an intervention....

I've visited boards like this before. Some made me laugh my ass off, and some disturbed me a little. Anyways the site looks good, i'll keep an eye on it.

Same here, some disturbed me.. well a lot. Others I laughed my ass off too. It really depends on the board. I'm just trying to think if I should really use /b/ or not for random. But then again, I would just be following along with what the other channels are doing and doing nothing different, even if it's just a letter.

Also, can anyone think up any other board subjects that you (or others) would like to see? Perhaps some that are not on other other CHAN sites?
