Comcast can suck a lemon

So comcast said that they will be limiting the amount you can upload and download to a total of 250 gigs a month. now that may seem like a lot but that is a combination of uploads and downloads total 250 not each, now I dont know how much MMO's take at a time but I can imagine it being a considerable amount in both directions. On top of that streaming videos from places like youtube, hell downloading attachments from e-mails. I was wondering if anyone had the numbers or a ballpark figure for games like WAR, cause three people in my apartment will be playing it and this would be crippling having to spend the last half of a month not using my comp.

Did they always restrict bandwidth in your area?

nope its gonna start on oct 1st. The problem is there is literally no other providers in the area and so there is nothing we can do in regards to options

that seems like an odd rule... I guess if they're the only providers, they're trying to keep it "free" for the general populous?

Sry I can't help though, I have no idea how much WAR will be. Or how frequently they'll patch.

250 GB/month is an extremely large amount of data, much more than a typical residential customer uses on a monthly basis. Currently, the median monthly data usage by our residential customers is approximately 2 - 3 GB. To put 250 GB of monthly usage in perspective, a customer would have to do any one of the following:

* Send 50 million emails (at 0.05 KB/email)
* Download 62,500 songs (at 4 MB/song)
* Download 125 standard-definition movies (at 2 GB/movie)
* Upload 25,000 hi-resolution digital photos (at 10 MB/photo)
Comcast.net Terms Of Service - Announcement Regarding An Amendment to Our Acceptable Use Policy

I am not defending them. But I also do not use comcast because it's slow..

I don't think you have any chance to reach that amount of dl/ul per month from playing any mmos. Most daily patches are mostly just to fix bugs and make little adjustments and those patches are way less then half a gig each. Only patches that reaches 1gig are when they add more content to the game (new cities, instances....) and I really doubt they plan to do more then once of month if they even do it that often most likely it will be less often then that. Playing doesn't actually cost you that much connection at all. The most important thing you need to worry about is that your connection remain stable.

Now the amount of porn you may be downloading is your own problem...
