Wife/Husband Faction Points
I get a lot of grief when a new game is coming out and I start to play the game for way too many hours. My wife can handle it for about a week and then "the game" becomes a problem. Well a problem for her, while she becomes a problem for me, haha. In the end, I have a cache of wife faction to spend then it dwinddles to nothing...How do you build up the wife faction? What do you do to keep the non gaming spouse (or mom) from unplugging the monitor?

I get that same crap from my mom.
I really don't do anything special, I just shrug it off. But it definately agitates me. My dad is fine with games, he sees it as a better choice than movies or TV, just as I do. Using your hand eye coordination and reasoning skills while playing a videogame is better than watching a TV show or movie. My mom just won't buy it. I divide the time up carefully. I ususally eat dinner and watch a little TV with her, then I play games for the rest of the evening. You have to remember to take her out to eat once or twice a week,, take her shopping for a few hours over the weekend and a movie,, things like that. All this dosen't take very long so you still have plenty of gaming time
A line that has also worked in the past is to say "Hey, I'm not out doing drugs, ((unless you are!)) I'm not out drinking with the guys, I'm sitting here at home so you know where I am and you can get me if you need anything" Good Luck! The kek is to balance the wife-time with the game-time.

You have to set aside time to spend with her (and do stuff around the house). My wife gets real annoyed whenever I start a new game because she knows that it consumes me, I have to schedule time for things like going on walks and making dinner for her and stick to that schedule.

Like the other guys said you just hafta balance the time. I eat dinner with my wife every night, some nights going out to eat when she gets home from work. We go run errands and such on the weekend. I do a few chores around the house without her asking and the rest of my time is my own.
Hell she even bought me an Alienware for my birthday about a year and a half ago =)
