Legion of steel

Just wondering if this name was "inspired" by the Dragonlance books. So... was it?

I've read Dragonlance, but it's been a long time. The books I read I don't believe ever mentioned that group in it either (The Chronicles). I've actually never heard of it before until after I started the guild.

well it does not feel like the most unique name for a guild that I've seen across the web, however I think it is a good one. Haven't seen it before that I can recall.

Wasn't trying to go for original, just "fitting" with the Conan universe. Sounded very fitting to me. It's more difficult to be unique with so many guilds out there though. Anyhow.. I like it.

Yes, very appropriate. In the movie Conan the Barbarian Thulsa Doom kills Conans village in search of steel. Then of course theres the riddle of steel.

Of REHs works Ive only read the 1st 2/3rds of The Comming of Conan the Cimmerian and so far he hasnt mentioned steel, but perhaps he does in one of the other two books. In about a dozen Savage Sword of Conan comics there is no mention of steel either.

I hope Milius didnt just throw all that in because he thought thats what Vikings would talk about (See the embarassing Directors Commentary on the Conan the Barbarian DVD if you dont get the reference.)

But either way, its still a cool guild name

Its a good name for sure. But occasionally I like to call our guild the Steel Legion.

It think there are a bunch of legions of steel, steel legions out there.

Just don't confuse people when they ask what the guild is called.
