Woman fails carjacking as car was manual
A manual gear change foiled a woman who's alleged to have attempted a carjacking in southern Sydney, police say.
The 20-year-old woman is alleged to have pulled a 49-year-old female driver from her car after it had stopped at an intersection in Forest Road, Miranda, about 6pm (AEST) on Tuesday. But a police spokeswoman said when the woman jumped in the car and attempted to drive off, she was surprised to encounter the manual gears. She tried to run off but was restrained by two male bystanders. The woman was arrested and charged with intent to take or drive motor vehicle and common assault. She was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Pffft...I was able to drive my manual off-road Jeep through things most guys were too wussy too. I think they were afraid of scratching their paint job or something. Best time ever was I took my cousin to the West Point training grounds, "illegally" but I had my military id on me...so when 50 guys came out with their sooped up paint ball machine guns my cousin about shit his pants...it was quite hilarious. I got a free escort to the gate, but that was about it...still fun as hell. /sigh I miss my Jeep
