Nintendo Wii Discussion

So, what do you think about the console? when and where will you get it?, what launch titles would you buy?

personally i can't wait, much like Cartman on episode 1012, but maybe not as extreme, i keep looking for new ways to pass the time until nov.19, except university that doesn't help very much to the painful waiting, at the moment it's pretty much about finishing, again, TLOZ:OOT:MQ, after that TLOZ:MM, just to get into the right mood for the new Zelda, Twilight Princess :P
So basically i think the Wii is awesome, the new controller is so cool and its potential seems to be endless (I'm already waiting for a new RTS for the Wii that could use the controller as a mouse much like in PC RTS's, or some swordsfighting games that copies your hand movements 1 to 1, damn i'd better not think about it)
the single thing that is a bit behind the 360 and the PS3 is obviously the CPU and GPU raw power, not that the Wii is so weak, it said to be 2-3 times stronger than the GC, which is fine with me, and besides - eventually it's not the polygon count (oh, the lighting and shadow effects on the Wii will compare with those on the PS3 and 360, btw) who determines the whole graphical experience, but it has alot to do with the art, lighting, shadowing and presentation.
About nintendo games..i have faith in them, Nintendo clearly has the best games ever! :P, and not to mention the VC...
on launch, i'd definitely get The legend of zelda: Twilight Princess, RedSteel and Trauma Center.
then in dec.15 there's no way i won't have Metriod Prime Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy.
Unfortunately, it will be pretty hard for me to get the system close to launch (but i bet i will ), because i live in Israel, and probably for the lack of demand for games (it's so darn bad here, none buys games. everybody gets pirate/cracked versions on the net, i'm not innocent myself :*) Nintendo has removed its representatives here few years ago, when they realized it wasn't financial, and the only way to get their products here is by private-importing. which means it will be much more expensive, only the wii that suppose to cost 250 usd, will cost me about 420 usd including delivery and taxes. (we can, of couse, still buy Microsoft's and Sony's products here as we count a part of europe for those companies, but who really wants those ? :P)
So i'm planing on buy it in amazon.com at launch, order it to my uncles house that is located in Boston and then tell them to send it over here by DHL or something.

i went playing some zelda, have a nice day

I don't know, it took me a long time to even get the 360 since I usually play PC games more then anything.. except for when I'm chillin with friends.. then it's usually the console. I'll see what games are coming out for it and then probably make up my mind. =)

I'll be picking mine up from gamestop 12am of launch day along with zelda. That should hold me over for a bit.

The fact that Nintendo screwed over Gamecube owners by withholding Zelda is something I'm surprised more people aren't as pissed as I am about. If you're going to make no games for the system and get no 3rd party support for it, then don't rob me of the title that can hold me over. Nintendo just gave it's loyal Gamecube owners the finger basically.

Like with Gamecube, I'll probably just wait a while down the road and pick it up after a few price drops.

You're just overreacting, changing dates of announced products is regular in the gaming industry, and you can't expect nintendo to abandone their financial interests (you can understand why did they want the new zelda to be THE launch title for the wii..:P) just so you could play the game now, and not...less than a month later.
it's not like they have cancelled it for the cube :/

Im bouncing back and forth between a Wii (i want the new zelda, Red Steel, SSB:B, and the new battalion wars looks nice too) or a 360(Bioshock, Mass Effect, Armored Core 4, Halo 3...and maybe Gears of war....im not too big on console FPS but i wanna finish the halo storyline.....*grumble grumble*"crappy ending"*grumble grumble*)...I usually get a large influx of moneys around xmas...i feel i'll get more use out of the Wii(read: SSB:B) when im with friends but Bioshock and Mass Effect alone sound too damn good to pass up....but in the end i can see myself getting a Wii now and meby a 360 later on down the road.

Im anxious to see what its capable of, and how people respond to it. Personally Im really excited about the new remote, and of course the new Mario. Im concerned about my expectations for how sensitive and great the new remote is though. So, Im going to wait to try it on display before I get too excited about getting one

Also I need to find a job first, anyone here in Seattle own a Web Development firm looking for a designer/developer/marketing specialist? (www.spportfolio.com)
