The format wars
anyway the time comes again in which we the consumers are stuck between two formats.
The last great battle was VHS and Beta Max, and VHS obviously won. Anywho it seems that one of the bigger deciding factors on why one came up on top was well you guessed it.........porn. So now with HD-DVD vs Blue ray , it seems that porn labels are jumping on HD-DVD(i found this out cause i watched that thing on G4 and it was one of there updates). If you ask me id assume since its cheaper then Blue ray. Blue ray is to new technology to fast(thus pricey). But which do you think will win, i personally say HD-DVD cause of the price

cost will decide who wins. Especially if the visual quality isn't so different that people say that x is clearly better than y. I have only heard that they both look great so it leads me to believe that the cheaper one will win.

Blu-ray will win. The difference in picture quality isn't much, but you can fit so much more on a BD than a DVD. So, if not for the picture quality, then what it means for computer users. It holds like 3x as much as a DVD. And, as history has shown with CDs and DVDs, when the first DVD players came out they were $1000, blu-ray burners have come out, started at $1000, now they're way down.

HD-DVD, hands down.
Sony doesn't want porn on their discs, so the porn industry has decided to use HD-DVD. It was the death knell for Beta and will be for Blue-ray. Mind you, players are just coming out which play both formats, so that complicates things a little. But we can all agree on one thing; DEATH TO SONY!! Sisy
