Job Search
Well I applied for graduate school but got shot down. Now I'm applying for real jobs in the real world both in the states and in Japan. The waiting for someone to contact me is killing me.
I have found out that without a doctorate my current degree is worthless, and I am honestly sick of the history field, I'm half tempted to go back to college for a new BA in some other field. Currently I have applied for over 10 seperate jobs in the US and Japan alone and I have only gotten a few e-mail replies from people and no phonecalls which is depressing. Anyone have any stories of waiting to hear from an employer to contact you about a job, or any job seeking stories while I wait for for someone to contact me and I look at other companies looking for people. |

Well let’s see I am doing a co-op that deals nothing with my major at all. My boss even said that to me when I interviewed for the job. But I took it anyway because I was getting no offers anywhere else. And now I get payed to pretty much do nothing.

It looks like I may have been found. I'm not putting all my eggs in this basket yet, but after blizzard sending one follow up e-mail and nothing else I was getting rather depressed, but as of last night there seems to be a company in Tokyo that is trying their darndest to attain me, now do I just accept whatever pay they offer, or try to use this to my advantage because they seem a little desperate it seems?
I guess I can be the LoS AOC'er thats on at those odd hours and takes care of things, but someones gonna have to mail me a copy of the game! |

Auuummm see if you can bump it up a bit but don't stretch it if you in turn need a job
![]() right now im searching for a full time job but not one thats a careered based since in a year it seems DC and I are heading back to school... but two different ones hahaha. so ive applied to a bunch of places online and actually to a humane society (working with animals and either saving or killing em ) which seems to be my best option atm since no other low paying flexible jobs seem to want me and only career based jobs seem to find me... :/ which is cool cuz im not worried about being hired in the future now haha.. but i dont want em now...

The economy here in Western Australia is so good atm a brain-dead monkey could find a job, employers are really desperate for workers.
O and you definetely shouldnt push em too much, things like that are remembered when cutting down on staff occurs. ![]() |

I need to add, I have an interview on July 11th right after I get back in the states for a job that could pay anywhere upwards of 8 million yen to 10 million yen which translates into double what I am making now which is around 32 to 34 thousand dollars heres hoping for the 10 mil, that way I can build a new computer in month one of payment after I get all moved in.

If you want to work with animals, have you considered applying to any zoos? I work at a zoo, but I have little interaction with the animals( mostly because i get paid as much as the keepers, but don't have to do nearly as dirty of a job), but people from my non animal area get transferred to animal related departments over outside applicants. For example, there was a girl who used to work under me who transferred to the mammals department and is now working in the animal care center and works with baby lions, rhinos, and other animals. just something to think about.

Fast food does suck, but its so easy to get into, and if you just tough it out put in your hours and don't cause any trouble you can get raises quickly and get a lot of nice experience on a resume. I know it sounds stupid but having a boss from fast food say, yes they were on time, yes they did the job, they were pleasant to work with, they did everything I asked, I never had any disipline issues with them, will go a long way on that next job, also you can pick up tons of different experience from fast food and the like: working with money, food handling certification, with promotion managment skills, time skills, you dont think about it when you do it, but you actually get a decent amount of skills from working fast food that when worded right on a resume really looks good, but the number 1 thing I think is that reference from your boss saying how good a worker you were. |
