XFire IMs

Hey, not sure if that popping noise is people trying to message me in-game or people logging in or out. I can't seem to make sure whether my in-game IMs are on or not. So, if anyone knows how to turn them on and BE SURE about whether or not they are, please let me know, thanks. (Sorry for being a techno-dumbass.

It makes a popping noise like an IM and then says something about pressing scroll lock + X but then disappears. It's like I think someone is trying to send me one but I can't view it, even when I press SL + X and it does it again. ...

only messages I get are ppl logging in and out, someone tried to start a chat with me once but I was at work with the pc on..like today

OK, I think an IM is more like a "bling!" sound than a "pop!" sound.

If a game supports in-game chat, you'll hear a ripping sound and the text will display in the bottom right corner. The popping sound is people logging on, and the slamming door sound is people logging off. The messaging sound is a beep.
