Well it expanded my vocabulary (particularly in the younger years), improved my reaction time, taught me some history, hell I've learned tons.
Most importantly it exercises your ability to reason through problems because in the end, that's what most video games are comprised of.

I have learned that the Zombie apocalypse is real, and that I (and by I meaning we) need to start making preventative measures against the coming undead hordes.

Oh! and that a simple crowbar is the most useful weapon a man could ever have.

Oh! and that headcrabs in the dark are scary.

I have learned that there are two types of zombies: there are your average, very slow moving zombies who are unintelligent and then there are zoombies who are hyper intelligent and very quick. And in the event of zombie disaster, I'd rather be stuck with zombies just because they're so damn slow.

Mostly I've learned about a lot of different people, whether it is culture, or just different personality types, or even how people react in groups, or to different situations. If you want to go into HR management (I don't), become a guild leader or officer, a lot of what you learn can be applied to an organization. I've also learned a lot of different languages, well mostly how to swear in those different languages, but also a lot of simple things. I learned a lot about computers, and built my first computer because of video games.

I've also learned where snipers hide in buildings, and to kill doctors and nurses first :P

that randomly throwing grenades can kill you

that there are dumb immature people all over the world

that a majority of female characters in game are played by dudes

it teaches you in a nice way that stupid actions can cause big consequences... such as pulling too soon in MC and having everyone wipe.

and finally, that crouch jumping is a great way to get from one place to another... but you look like a tard practicing it.
