Real things you learned from video games.

I've been a gamer since I was a very young child, and I honestly have to say that video games have introduced me to several things, mostly involving vocabulary.

So, what have you learned and where did you learn it?

The word Concur: Civ2 when I was 9. My parents bought it for me thinking it would help fill my curiosity for history. I learned it because of the advice given from the computer in campaign mode.

Zealot: Starcraft. Inspired me to look up the word.

Phalanx: Age of Empires.

There are more, but I need time to think about it. Post yours.

Baldur's Gate: Inspired me to learn Perl/Web Design and build a website to host mine and others' custom goodies for the game. That was my first journey into programming and it's now my full-time job. Thanks BG!

If you see a guy with two demon-snake things coming from his back, stay away.

If you see a lowbie out in the open, don't attack, the cops will come after you.

10 year olds can snipe good.

Don't be afraid to die, you still got four lives left.

Typing in cheat codes for warcraft 2 is how I learned to type efficiently and without having to look at the keyboard.

video games...hmm, i guess they dramatically improved my hand-eye corrordination...and i expanded my vocabulary...I started playing video games when i was in late 3rd grade....

Type faster and without looking.
Alot of historical stuff.
Reflexes (when you play alot of CS surprisingly enough u do build em up, though if u play mmorpg like wow they sorta die on u

)
