In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition watched the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died. Recently the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of Central America decided that the 'installation' was actually art, and Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

Here are heartbreaking images of the dog as he lay dying, in plain view of this artist's admirers.

I like art just as much as the next guy, but not when it's price comes at the cost of sacrificing basic human decency. You can show your support against this by signing an online petition found here:

Woot, congrats art! I want to stab the guy in the face. I can actually say i am so furious right now i feel like throwing up...and that has never happened before. Go go 3rd world countries. *rolls eyes*

Just something else to reinforce the over all idea i got from my "Art History" class i took here in college: Art is stupid, serves no purpose, and kills animals. Rather productive activity it seems.

well unfortunately Honduras doesn't seem to be much better to the majority of its people...it is one of the 10 poorest countries in the western hemisphere

You are talking about 'Modern' Art, where a urinal with some guy's name on it is art. That is not art, that is called taking something simple and pretending it is something greater than it really is.

The dog dying is cruel and the artist should be arrested for his actions, but in a way, death can be beautiful and artistic. That is in paintings, mostly, and movies. Not when an animal is starved so it is forced to die. I am half surprised animal lovers aren't all over this guy.

Modern art is stupid, yes, but not art in general.

How about I take a katana to the guys limbs and slice him up with cold presicion, I mean to many the skillfull use fo a katana is considered an art. At least it would do the man justice!

To be honest though, what he did was just sick and unjustified... Theres enought fucking suffereing in the world to be observed without the need for people to bring it to others. How about he does himself a favor and starves himself to death... At least it would be a correct dramatic realisation of whats goin on in other countries and he would be doing himself a fucking favor, demeted fuck head...

Ok I'm sorry but this is not art this an affront to basic morality. No animal should be put through this in the name of art and like I said this is not art. I'm not sure who to be pissed off at more the artist or the people who watched this and stood by as this cruel action took place. I for one can say that if this artist tried to do this to any of my animals he would find himself being beaten with a rusty pipe and then dump on the side of the road where all the other unwanted trash is.

Ok I gotten myself worked up time to listen to some music and watch the dogs play for a bit.

Maybe I'll take a crap, smear in on a wall and wala, a masterpiece (more humane at least).

wow after seeing real pictures i just feel enraged. Its the type of rage where you show no emotion and dont say a word and i dont really know what to say. I hate people like him who kill animals because they think they are more superior.
I think we should cut his wrists, jsut enough to bleed, place him around a bunch of sharks film it and call it art. Make bank and go on with our lives
