Ours was pretty great too.
Went out to see the huge Houston display, that's always great. After that we drove back home, took some steel wool (I'll explain below), drove out to Sugarland, bought $300 worth of fireworks, and launched off about half of em at other people. Anyways the steel wool trick is great. Get a pad of steal wool, unwind it partially while leaving a large bulk at the end, and tie the loose strand to something that will serve as a handle (clothes hangers are great, we used a $1.29 Target extension cable). Have someone else ignite the mass (or you can use a battery) and then start spinning it around you as fast as you can. It turns into a flaming mass spinning around you shooting sparks all over the place. Here's an alright video of it, but I prefer to use a few pads tied together and to let out more wool to give the display a greater area. It really is a cool thing to try out.
