CABLE!

I posted here back when I started about only having access to dial up internet. Well that is still the case but...

I'm working on bugging the local cable company to run lines so I can get internet. Comcast is in my town but doesn't cover my area of the town, a rather small local cable company covers my area. I just heard resent information that this cable company finally just ran lines on a back road about 3-4 miles from my location.

On Friday, I called in and talked to a lady and she said she would send some people out to see if it is available in my area and possibly take a survey. Someone in the area then noticed on Monday a truck stopped out checking the telephone poles for a few minutes then left. She said she would call back Monday but didn't and I called today and was told she would return my call and didn't. I'm waiting on the call and everyday I don't get a call or information I will call them. I refuse to give up until I get cable here. Therefore, now I start the fight to get cable internet in my area. I'm hoping to get it before WAR, I really do not want to play this game on dial-up and not be able to RvR due to it.

Also...before any one says it...no there isn't dsl here. The phone lines here are so bad and the phone company won't even fix them. On a *supposed* 56k connection I only get about 19-40 kbs in over 10 years of having dial up it's never gone over 40 kbs.

Just thought I'd let everyone know what I'm up, any comments are welcome.

Yeah satellite is available, but isn't that like having a really expensive dial-up connection?

Good luck dude, fighting Comcast is like yelling at a giant pack of turtles, you can yell all you want at them to plant their damn eggs in your part of the sand, but the fuckers won't listen to you and they just ignore you and plant their eggs where they please.

Satellite is O.K. for downloads, but uploads are not comparable so it is not really good for online gaming. Better than dial-up true, but at the price not really worth it.
