Cutting of 4 Cities opinions

To me, the cutting out of 4 classes, ok that was a big deal, but the 4 cities I actually find a good thing. Now look at it this way, when a city is being invaded it will be FAR more grand and it will feel like a true war. Not to mention in this case cities will be far larger with better content and will really feel like living cities.

So what do you guys think?

Edit:

And plus 20 classes aren't enough? want to tank? you still got 2 types of tanks with specs of their own. (that's more tanks than most games) Want to melee DPS? you still got 2 types of melee DPS. (again more than most games)

While I agree the focus of all the armies into 1 city is going to make for a much grander battle in the end, it skews story lines and goals. The Orc WAAAGH! was directed towards the Dwarfs, and the Dark Elves began this whole war to get at the High Elves. To me, it seems a little odd that Orcs would stop their WAAAGH! right at the front door of the Dwarfs to go help the other races. Now that being said was one of the reasons as to why they made this change, because they wanted the whole thing to be a group\team effort. And although they should change the game to do that, I wish they hadnt cut some lore to make it happen.

Everything I said up there can be flipped into an Order perspective so its not just a destruction issue.

i completely agree

as for the 4 classes, they arent "cut from game"
they are "cut from release" because they couldnt get the desired effect from the mechanisms (or at least thats what i was told...correct me if im wrong)

I have no problem with them cutting the other 4 cities. I would rather have them relese a great game than have them either add some filler content. And i don't think i can wait any longer for them to delay the game to add the other cities.

The 4 classes were removed and they said some may make it into release, some may get patched in and some may never make it in.

I'm ok with the decision to not include those cities and classes. I happen to believe Mark at his word for the decisions they have made. And, as already mentioned, some of this stuff will be along at some point in the future.

In all honesty, most of the knee-jerk reactions I've read was precipitated by those who were more deeply invested with the backstory and lore of the game.

It really remains to be seen as to how having a reduced number of cities will fare in the long run. As for classes, there are more than enough to choose from. Mythic is toying with the idea of city rotation. While individualized conflicts may not be as apparent anymore, there seems to be a stronger push for an army vs. army conflict--one that involves the armies of Destruction and Order on a grand scale.

it was a smart move, ppl rvr'ing all across the board scattered just takes all the fun outta rvr, centralizing it to one spot really fixes alot of problems with implementing rvr into a game. No more cheap skirmish battles here, and there. It's everyone vs everyone 24/7... woot! to cutting cities...
(can I have my blackguard back now?)

p.s. /edit
although it makes for a constant push in the same spot for a long, long, long, long time. Gonna be a while before you see a city go down. Imagine destruction vs order, fighting over the same keep, back and forth, for a week, then multiply that by ALL the keeps... going to be a while....

When they first said they werent going to release the other cities it was a bit upsetting because of lore reasons as many had stated before, but after hearing that they then increased the content in the final cities to a much more grand scale it helped ease the pain.

The one thing im curious about is now you have 3 realms from each side worth of players making their way into one city. Is that going to cause lag issues? Are the population caps in a zone going to affect gameplay for some people?

With three different city goals, sure you would be spread out a bit, but personally I believe there would be enough people to make it very fun regardless of which end game city you went to. After all, they have multiple scenarios and battlegrounds leading up to the city attacks, so if those are going to be full and exciting, theres no reason why multiple cities wouldnt be the same.

I bet the lag issue is one of the main things they want to test out in Open Beta by inviting over 100k people to test the game out. I wouldn't be truly surprise if they stuck us up in T4 in order to rush the cities to really test out their servers before launch since we all know most people on a realm are gonna at that point soon or later and well I think they're rather test it before it actually happens so they do some proper adjustments. Maybe get feedbacks also from people with lower end computers seeing how they can handle the game in such situations... Will their computers be able to handle all the animations even on minimum settings?

I'm really looking forward to Open Beta especially if that's what they plan to do in order to test the situation out.
