Heres the text from the link:
Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is one of just a small handful of games at CES 2007 taking full advantage of Microsoft's vaunted Direct X 10 technology for Windows Vista. Boasting a huge environment filled with lush vegetation, and some beautiful fog and lighting effects, it represents a sizeable leap in what we can expect from MMO visuals moving forward. It's certainly a marked upgrade over World of Warcraft and is arguably a more impressive visual treat than Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The character models all look sturdy and substantial, while the creatures (in the case of the CES demo, scorpions and larger gargoyle-looking things) are well detailed and animated. In fact, comparisons to Oblivion are quite apt with regard to a number of features in the game. For anyone that ever wandered the wilderness of Cyrodill musing "this would be awesome if it were an MMO" will no doubt find something to like about Age of Conan. As mentioned in our previous preview the development team certainly hasn't been shy about it's M-rated intentions, and fans of Robert E. Howard's work certainly won't be disappointed with the cleavage, and beefcake on display, nor with the level of violence that players can indulge in. The real time action based combat system is a major departure from what we've all become used to in MMO's so far, but along with other MMO action games on the horizon, it will no doubt help establish a new trend in the way this kind of game is executed. Combatants appear to have a number of moves at their disposal, with some spectacularly gory attacks that result in very messy decapitations. As we've reported previously there will also be a 360 version of the game that will follow within a year of the PC release. So far, questions about the two different versions existing within the same game world have been met with a firm "no comment," however we do know that the 360 adaptation will be based on the slightly less showy Windows XP/DirectX 9 version of the game. There are a number of reports from CES about the game citing some major crash bugs and animation glitches with the demo on display. We asked representatives on the booth what the problem was, and they claimed it was due to hardware overheating. High power PCs were ensconced in poorly ventilated drawers underneath the demo pods, and the heat cranked out by the DX10 hardware was causing the things to meltdown on a semi-regular basis. In fact, when we visited the booth to see the game, Funcom was running the pods with the draws wide open, with the exposed guts of the PC blocking the walk space around the booth. |

Also just an FYI, in the highlight for next months PC Gamer magazine, they talk about revisiting AoC again. So hopefully they got some time with the game as well (I trust their opinions over most other sources...been reading it for damn near 10 years.) Can't wait to see what they have to say about the game.

A part of me wished they would come out with a small download for the character design aspect, sort of what EQ2 did.. so we can toy around with it until AoC launches. The other part of me says no... just work on the game dev's!

Ahahaha. I wouldnt mind messing around with some character designs myself. I dont wanna spend 3-4 hours making my character when AoC first comes out. Someone might steal my name in that time. Hehe plus id be losing out on playing time! :P

Ya.. that would be a great thing, since they provide so many options for the character customization, it would be nice to toy around with it while we wait.
