Honestly, I'm getting a bit tired of this topic--or, more to the point, the fact that all the dev posts on the topic get more or less ignored.

Yes, you will "summon" your mount directly. We are not having stables.

No, it's not a "pocket horse." Watch the movies. Do you instantly get summoned on the horse a-la WoW and zoom off? Nope. You have to wait for the horse to become available, then mount it, then you can maybe move.

Same goes for dismounting... does the horse instantly disappear? No, it does not. The horse sticks around for quite some time before it despawns, and can be re-mounted, or perhaps even killed.

Obviously--as has been stated before--the item being used to summon the mount in question is a test item ("SummonMount BLSL" is not exactly a "normal" item name, eh?) and is not exactly how summoning will work. Summoning will be conditional, it will also probably have a delay time.

So, honestly, those concerned about people magically popping on horses and zooming off don't really have to worry about that. The time that it will take to actually summon the horse, and the currently viewable time it takes to mount/dismount in the movies is nothing even remotely lose to instant.

The fact is, you could probably easily kill someone in the amount of time it takes them to do both of those things if they attempt to use it as a way to escape so blatantly.

There are plenty of reasons why we would decide not to have a stabling system, and I don't think we need to have an endless debate on a topic such as that. I do feel, however, that people are still thinking way too "WoW-ish" about the whole mounting system without keeping in mind the large differences between the way it works in both games.

WoW has you magically "poof" in a puff of smoke on your horse after 2 seconds and, likewise, you can magically "poof" off instantly at the click of a button. We will not have that.

Also, in regard to the exclaimation mark... That is a placeholder graphic, it may not end up being an "!", but it will certainly end up being changed at some point. That said, I support having a visual indicator as to quest status--especially after playing through the quests and seeing how they work.

Attila and the other quest designers are doing a remarkable job with quests, IMO, and I see no reason to complain about their efforts just due to not liking it being somewhat similar to another game. (Although, it's not as if WoW was the first game to have visual quest indicators.

)

Magic has been discussed a lot, but I will simply have to reiterate that when you see the final product and the total package of what all the classes offer, I think you will have a very different opinion.

i hope its at least like DAOC where you whistle and then after some seconds your mounted but i hope for a mounting animation

There is a mounting animation. Havnt you watched the gamespot interview? It shows the guy mounting the horse. Then it shows him riding around cuting people down, and lancing them :P

So Jayde is saying it's not a "pocket horse" because you don't magically appear on the horse after summoning it (WoW), but instead have to mount it and dismount it? That sounds like some retarded logic imo. Either way it's a "pocket horse" is it not?
