Holy smoke thats a big change!!!!
pretty much Funcom felt that the role of many of the classes have similar role with the other ones, so they merged most of the classes. Here is the list * Guardian and Halberdier have been merged, class name is Guardian. * Barbarian, Reaver and Master Thief merged, class name is Barbarian. * Conquer and Liberator merged, class name is Conqueror. * Zealot and Dark Templar merged, class name is Dark Templar. * Defiler and Lotus Master merged, class name is now Assassin. * Ranger and Waylayer merged, class name is Ranger. * Stormcaller and Druid merged, class name is Druid of the Storm. * Scourge of Derketo’s abilities have been merged across the Priest archetypes To put it simply, The new guardian now has the old guardian and the old halberdier abilities, and so are the other merged classes Here is the new Archetype: * Priest Archetype – Druid of the Storm, Scion of Set, Priest of Mitra, Bear Shaman * Mage Archetype – Demonologist, Lich, Necromancer, Herald of Xotli * Soldier Archetype – Guardian, Conqueror, Dark Templar * Rogue Archetype – Ranger, Assassin, Barbarian

I agree they did seem to simliar. Especially barbarian and reaver.
But what im not really getting is how are they gonna divide up the skills. I mean they merged Barbarian, Reaver and master thief, all into 1 class. But they are keeping all the skills for each class. So i wonder will you be choosing something from a talent tree, like in WoW? Or maybe you choose Barbarian, then pick up a sub category? Barb, Reaver, Master thief... Yeah thats what im wondering, i still dont get it :P

LOL I dunno the detail
but ok lets look at the old Conqueror and Liberator they can wear the same armor, and use the same weapons, but one can plant their banner, the other can throw their banner. not much difference there, if you look at it. So now the new Conqueror class can both plant and throw their banner. And If I read it correctly, they can now give the same boosts of both of the old classes. The old Barbarian can hit hard, the old Reaver can hit fast and duel wield, and the old master thief can fight bare hand. So I guess as the new BArbarian you can choose to hit hard or hit fast or hand to hand combat.
