For me it would be the.. "Mordus - Thermal & Kinetic", since I believe I fight the Mordus around where I am. If I fight them for a long time then ya it's probably worth it then. So far I believe it's all I've been fighting.

Yeah, the damage type makes quite a bit of difference but it seems what a ship is strong against in shield it is weak against in armor, and the other way around. I'm thinking of training some electronic warfare drones for pvp so I can jam the opponent and keep them from being able to target anything. I have quite a bit of SP invested in drones so far.

Ya, I'm glad my character came with a ton of drone kills, I believe one of them started at IV right from the start, probably just the regular drone skill allowing me to send out 4 drones or something, I don't remember and I cant check since I'm at work.

On another note.. I did some research on what to equip for my Thorax.. how's this?

High: 5 heavy ion blaster I
Med: 10mn AB, Stasis Webifier, Cap recharger
Low: Med Armor Rep I, 2 Armor hardeners, 1 Power diag, 1 Reaction control

Do you actually use the webifier on the pirates? Normally those are only used on really fast ships to slow them down so you can hit them. I've not used a webber on anything yet since my drones can keep up with anything I'm fighting. Other than that everything looks pretty good. I guess you are going with the armor tank instead of a shield tank. Seems like that is better per cap.

Starting with lvl 4 drones is pretty sweet. I didn't have any drone skills when I started so I had to take it from 0 to level 5....took quite awhile. It looks like you have some pretty good skills already from what you are using. Engineering is good to get up to increase your capacitors and allow for more tanking.

edit: on the pirates I've been fighting I'm getting a lot of blasters...some are selling for quite a bit. If you're interested in any of them you are welcome to them.

If you go on www.eve-online.com you can go to "My Character" and it shows your character skills and what you are training. It should allow you to check your skills at work unless you have that site blocked.

Sure I'll let you know if I need any blasters, but I have to work up my skill a bit first. So is shield tanking better then armor tanking you think?

Ya, but I thought you can't switch your skills without being in the game?

Right, you can't switch your skills but it allows you to at least view all of your chracter stats/skills.

Well as far as tanking from what I understand different ships are better at different types. Caldari ships seem to be better at shield tanking. It has to do with the number of slots each has for mids/lows. I think armor tanking has better tank per capacity point but shield seems to be a faster boost. I think a lot of people go armor tanking once they get skills to do it effectively. I'm still shield tanking since the rats hardly ever do damage to me and I'm caldari.

Ya.. it looks like I should armor tank then.

Gallente ships prefer to "armor tank" when on the defensive, while typically attacking with blasters and combat drones. Also, Gallente ships have the strongest structures out of the 4 races. Many Gallente ships are specialized droneships with bonuses to drone damage, range, carrying capacity, or a combination thereof, such as the Ishkur assault ship, the Vexor class cruiser, the Ishtar heavy assault ship, the Myrmidon battlecruiser, and the Dominix battleship. Aesthetically, they are considerably more colourful than Caldari vessels, with the Gallente design ethic preferring smooth, curving lines that often give them a somewhat organic appearance. Gallente ships are most often a deep sea-green/turquoise colour or a soft, almost rust color, and are sometimes named for figures out of cultural mythologies (Ishkur, Ishtar, Enyo), or are named in Latin (Thorax, Navitas, Incursus).

There you go. Looks like you are doing everything how those ships are supposed to be used. Once you get Drones to lvl 5 you can do drone interfacing (20% increase damage per level). Then your drones start taking out things before you can target them. But at first there are so many skills to train that only take like 20 minutes for the first level that training a 5 day skill seems like a pain.

Out of curiosity what did you go for with your attributes? I went INT and Mem as the highest. Now everything is pretty equal except charisma is still at like 6 or 7
