On the note of DAoC, I believe there is still a 14-day trial for the game. So for those wanting to try it out head to http://www.darkageofcamelot.com/
Games based around player vs player has always be very popular. Looking at FPS, RTS, some RPGs... one of the main draws is the team-based multiplayer. And what develops from it are clans, gaming groups, and guilds. With a system like RvR, now each battle is worth more, groups form out of necessity and develop over an extended amount of time. Something like the Battlefield series, it was only very limited individual development. But with something like WAR, it's not only your self, it's your teammates, your guild, your faction, your entire side. That is the specific draw of the RvR system for me. Just the system of putting thousands of players in direct and indirect competition. |

I guess that's what I'm really looking forward to in WAR, affecting the world around you. I remember playing beta for WoW and imagining huge city seiges and massive group PvP. At the end of beta everyone ran around in groups slaying the opposing faction. I thought the game would be based around that, but they took it in another direction. Hopefully WAR will satify my craving.

Another thing Dae, is that Mythic is big with the whole "what you do in RvR affects the world" angle. I don't know in what way it affects the world, but I would be very surprised if the realm that takes a capital and is throwing rotten fruit at thier king (and yes they said we can do that if we can make it back to our own capital with thier leader)... I would be surprised if that doesn't affect things in the world in some way. Be it battle bonuses or negatives, a change in the look of the world, a change in the NPCs, etc. Mythic wants RvR to feel meaningful to a greater degree than it did in DAOC, and here's hoping they succeed!

So what would everyone else like to see in terms of RvR?

I played DAoC through beta, until they released ToA. (Their second xp pack, which forced players to get equiped by doing alot of PvE grinds, or be on the losing end of almost every fight.) I will say, they were pretty innovative with their style of PvP, going with three realms fighting each other. The RvR really fostered a large sense of community within the realm, and even outside of the realm, due to fighting other people over and over. I remember whenever the opposing realm started to attack, and the word got out on the alliance chat - everyone dropping what they were doing, and running out to defend the realm. It was fun being in such a large group that would work together towards a common goal. Although, with that said it wasn't all peachy - they really had alot of things that were very unbalanced towards one class, or one realm and alot of things weren't around when they first released. (I mean, Hibernia was so lacking in the itemization category, it was really sad.) I believe Mythic has learned alot of harsh lessons in DAoC, and will apply those lessons to better improving WAR - alteast that is what I am hoping for. |

Conundrum. The word of the day

What might happen when you do good in RVR is that you can buy some new items. Not anything better but cool looking or so. O think it will be rewarded some how. I want to see in war THE big war event. Where all the 3 factions allied to defeat the other 3 faction.

I have yet to read anything about the RvR towards race help, but can other races help like say chaos help the Orcs take out the Dawrfs capitol?
To answer the question about gear....I can only guess with your kills in battle and your races victory's you earn a little amount of points I'm guessing and these points can be turned in to a vendor for better armor....I'm only guessing tho. |

quick thing again lol. In RvR lets say Order caps teir 1 and 2 but Disorder stops them from caping teir 3, what does this mean? does it mean teir 4 opens? or does it mean the advance of order is stoped right at teir 3? and if so can disorder try to recap teir 1 & 2 again? ( not sure if anyone will know but worth a shoot)
