I know some people won't agree but well I don't think War a competitor of WoW for the simple fact that they don't aim for the same thing at all. An RvR MMO is something completely different from a more aim PvE MMO. Sure you're gonna tell me you're wrong War also offers PvE and WoW also pushes to offer PvP but it's not really what they put most of their efforts into at all.
WoW classes have never been balance and I don't believe will ever be balance to really offer a good PvP aspects of the game like War seems to be willing to offer in the near future. Hearing the Mythic's team talking about the game sure you see them talk about PvE instances and all but I feel it's not really where their hearts are at all. The way I see it both companies seems to try to regroup everything an MMO should have in order to please everybody but they don't put their efforts on the same aspects which don't truly make them competitors in my head, at least at the moment.
Some companies will have to release some more exciting and original PvE content to make people flip game and stop playing WoW. I think graphics holds it's place in a video game but yeah I consider content > graphic. The game can be the best looking game out there if it's not entertaining playing it people won't get into it.
The company who will want to release a game to steal PvE players from WoW will have to offer something different from that game and something better. Probably attacking one bad aspects of the PvE aspect of WoW. For myself, I ended up farming instances for a long time a few times. I farmed Kara for over 6 months, SSC for over 2 months, MH/BT for over 6 months also... I won't even start with pre-BC. It becomes really really annoying to have to kill and rekill the same encounters with the same strategy every weeks in order to gear people up and continue to progress.
For that reason, I believe a company that could create a MMO containing encounters with a better artificial intelligence could give a nice competition to Blizzard right now. It wouldn't bother me to bash on the same boss for a few months in a row if that boss abilities would change to give us more challenge. Like the newer sports game right now if you start playing a certain style of game in order to defeat the other team, the "computer" team will adapt to stop you and you will have to switch your playstyle. I'd be really curious to see an encounter which starts with a set of abilities at the start but each times you beat it he learns from it and adapts in order to continue to offer you a challenge in a long run.
Yeah I'm getting away from the topic once again. I believe it's possible to make Blizzard fall but right now it's a big challenge for any companies in my head. Hopefully somebody will manage to release a game worth competing with WoW... and steal some markets from WoW2.
