shame u cant use the banner as an actual weapon obvoisuly without ya abilitys but nothing to stop it being a spear or a stave giving the invading foes a poke'n prod or thwack

I'm sure I heard that you can use the banner as a melee weapon in combat.

no news on using it as a weapon, but the standard bearer WILL have flag specific abilities to replace his lost ones =3 (ie: a knockback)

it was in an interview, id find and link it but I'm on the iPod, he said something about using it to jab at the enemy

yeah the banner is supposed to have an aoe knockback ability, yet another reason to put it on a frontline tank. =P

In the podcast, he said you'd be able to knock them back with an ability called flourish.

because honestly....i have no idea why you would want your flag on the front line when it has a radius effect on it....

backline flag: safe from getting stolen, they have to walk thru EVERYONE to get it

frontline flag: you basically hand them the flag on a platter


and since its radius...units in front will get benefits if its in back (and vice versa)

just my 2 cents tho... but you do gotta admit, it makes the most sense

(p.s: watch the banner video...it states you have to drop it to get additional benefits, so ud want it in the back, on a ranged)

after i think about it... i think it would be nice to see the magus cruising around with the banner

... also the magus "is" considered to be blessed with the disc of Zteench to give them a 1 up in commanding over the battle field... so i think the banner would also suite here.

Tank is my next choice tho.

yay someone finally agrees with me =.=;;

really its pending on magus armor type

but if they are rockin in chain armor, they wouldnt be an ez target to just rip down

im gonna have to say healer and then ranged dps...the banner is important and will be a focus of opposing teams and therefore should be well out of easy reach

although a tank will have higher armor and withstand more attacks being anywhere but the frontlines puts him out of commission, and being on the frontlines without his abilities makes him an easily available target for the whole group

the healer is best behind the front to begin with and with the radius of the banner and the ability to plant the banner, heal and then scoop it back up makes him imho the best choice seconded only by the ranged dps, also out of direct contact with the front if support is effective

Healer is a huge target as it stands... imoh, the banner would make them a bigger target.

Aside from that, a couple of our actual healer types spend almost as much time in combat as they do out of combat.
