well considering at this point all aspects of the banner and guild battle systems are pure speculation besides the stated "facts" of the podcast(of which many are due to change during testing and refinement), we are not entirely sure what effects, pro or con the banner will have on the user or the group as a whole
the carrier may very well be just a moving flagpole as you seem to be implying(albeit with a few small defensive moves that we know of), if such is the case then yes a tank would be the ideal choice as they are mainly meatshields to begin with, altough many tanks in WAR seem to rely on combat(actively fighting) to be effective, as the healer/supports do...or as with all aspects of WAR I have seen so far they will have much more use in both an offensive and defensive nature, playing much more to a more robustly multifaceted class such as the healers/support or ranged dps and thats about all I have to say on that ![]() Last edited by Potestis; 05-01-2008 at 12:03 AM. |

so, my $ .02 on the subject. It really depends on what the circumstances are in which the holder should be rotated. Ideally if you're totally overwhelming the enemy having it resting on the ground with all the ranged dps and magic types around it would be ideal. With the banner being advanced as the front moved as well.
IF, however it's a really close battle I could see holding a tank back mid field to extend the buff to as many as possible. This allowing for easier shifting of the front and the buff distance to the guild. I can see both situations occuring. No reason to hold back a melee fighter if there is very minimal risk in someone breaking through the entire line.... |

Sleep? Remind me what that is again.

I think it has to be a tank - if you cant use any of your normal abilities when carrying the flag, then you're going to need survivability - which is obviously a tank.
It'd be nice if you had support whilst carrying the flag - healer obivously, dps to remove unwanted guests and even another tank to taunt enemies off the banner bearer. On a side note, do I remember hearing that depending on who is holding the flag, will get different banner buffs? Ie, healer = faster regen, tank = more amour etc. (or did I just make that up?)

From what we know as of now, tank is without a doubt the best choice, because survivability is everything. Since no commands can be used while holding the flag, survivability comes down to pure armor tanking, still making the tank the obvious choice.
I saw a lot of you post about how the tank is on the front lines, and the dps in the rear, but you forget, once you have the flag, you are not dps, tank, or healer, you are the flag bearer. You go where you need to go, you stay in the center of the majority of the players and you try not to get killed. Pure and simple. We also dont know how easy it is to just drop the flag and pick it back up, if theres a timer on it, or once its dropped thats it until you get a "new" one. Although personally, i think the flag in the ground is a sound plan while on defence and holding a single position, while the roaming player flag would be ideal on offence when we may want to change our point of attack.

I don't have a link to the post, but someone from Mythic said long ago that Magus will be medium or light armor, forget which one, but it will not be chain. Honestly, I personally think it would be beyond stupid to give them anything higher than medium, if not just light. To me I believe all archtypes should have the same armor type, give them talents or abilities (could be passive too) to raise their armor if you want them to have more.
