alright.. ebgames and gamestop.com have a policy that you are not charged till the item is shipped... if you have an old dead credit card, or one with no money on it, you can order the collector's edition, recieve your beta codes by email a week later, and never actually pay a dime....
I looked into it, and mythic is intentionally just giving them the codes to distribute and has nothing else to do with them, because they do not want to be liable for anything, so this should still work for ingame item codes, and Live head start program, the communications between mythic and EB is virtually nill, so Im assuming it won't be possible for EB to make codes inactive after launch

a) Unless you are using a completely fake credit card, they now have all your information.

b) CE and Regular edition will have two separate types of CD Keys as there's still more in-game content you get besides the items you get from the Rave Cards (unless they have a bundle of codes in the box which I doubt it).

If Mythic chooses to, they can have it so that all accounts created using CE Rave card codes will not allow a regular edition CD Key to be registered with it... basically meaning two weeks after launch your account will become inactive until you purchase a copy of the Collectors Edition.

Definitely not saying this is how it's going to happen, but keep it in mind. Would suck to start leveling a character at Head Start only to have to start all over again.

...Oh, yeah, not to mention it's not a nice thing to do....

assuming its not a crime to order something, you never recieve, and not pay for it, they are not going to ship it before finalizing a credit card.. although it is illegal to use a credit card that is no longer active, same goes for bank accounts, but using one that just is short on funds is not a problem.

in answer to part b, yes you still need the cd-key for regular after head start program, so you still have to go buy the game. a cd-key is included in the box, which will never be recieved so, this basically gets you open beta, rave cards, and head start. Then you have to go buy the game and enter in your cd-key after head start. sorry to rant, but simple answer is Head Start is a different key-set than actual game, everyone will be forced to add a cd-key to their account after head start ends.

Not quite where I was going with my previous statement...

Was basically just saying that;

a) You created your account using CE promotional codes.

b) You don't purchase the CE and instead register a Regular Edition CD Key to your account.

c) There's a very high possibility that the regular editions will not have the same CD Keys as the CE because there is still a lot more in-game content you unlock with the CE.

d) What's to stop Mythic from not letting you register your regular edition CD Key with your account you've created using CE codes.

Or you could always just reserve the CE, take the card, then come back later and transfer the $5 down to another reserve or a purchase. I do it all the time.

good point on the cd-key, I failed miserably at the my previous statement. meant to say I don't see any reason why they would have seperate key sets. just because all benefits of the CD is done with seperate pre-game codes, and rave cards. only thing that makes me worry they may is the bonus heads... but hey worse case scenario is I got to play the game during beta and head start, and have to start a new toon same time as everyone else. save my rave cards till after

the last gamestop i went to he has 3 beta codes left. i bet if you were just nice to the guy and asked him for one he would problably give you one. that all sounds legal to me. <shrug>
