I saw this movie about two weeks ago and it's pretty crazy, especially at the end! I'm a fan of independent movies, so I enjoyed this one. Basically you either love this movie, or you hate it. People have said that there is not much of an inbetween.

The director Darren Aronofsky really makes this movie unique with his style of camerawork and directing. This movie isnt really for the squeamish though, it does have a few nasty parts (mainly near the end) along with some nudity. Not recommended for kids at all :P

Requiem for a Dream exposes four paralleled individuals and their menacing addiction to heroin, cocaine, and diet pills (speed). Taking place in Brooklyn amidst the waning Coney Island, the drugs are very easily obtained and keep each main character in its cycle of dependence. The protagonist Harry Goldfarb is your typical heroin junky with an ambitious plan of "Getting off hard knocks," with help from his cocaine crazed girlfriend Marion and his long time friend Tyrone. Meanwhile his widowed mother is obsessed with the glamor of television and eventually finds her way to a dietitian who pushes her into the cycle of drug induced enslavement.

The movie is excellent. It really says a lot of our cultures/addictions and just how similar they can be. If you want a movie with a message, this one is it.
