Discuss the Mad Max movies

Alright folks, who's missed out on the action in theese wonderful movies? I sure havent. Who's seen them all and sit down once a year just to remember the feeling and action we all remember from them?

#1 Mad Max (1979)
#2 Mad Max 2 (1981)
aka "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" - USA
#3 Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985)
aka "Mad Max 3"

(I'd also like to add Waterworld to this discussion, since its kind of the same storyline)

To me, they are almost religion.
I remember watching Mel Gibson struggling and fighting for survival,
its almost enough to make my skin crawl even as I'm writing this.
So, anyone has any thoughts/memories they like to share that relates to theese movies?
I'm too tired to come up with anything to start this thread off with.
Cheers

I personally like the original Mad Max as well as the Road Warrior (Mad Max 2). Beyond the Thunderdome is good, but I liked the fast paced car action which that one had, but just not enough in my opinion. Although, I still think it was well done. There were other types of movies similar to those, but I can't remember any of the names. I think the plot's of each of the Mad Max films were pretty well done and pretty involving for the audience. The first one was that a biker gang killed Mad Max's family while he was a law enforcement officer in a police hotrod, later he basically turned vigilante and hunted them down. Also it explains why in the Road Warrior he couldn't walk as well due to something happening to him in the original movie (aka he had a metal brace of sorts on his knee).

I've always wondered what it would have been like to have a "Mad Max MMORPG", I think it would be thrilling in a way. You could customize your car, your character, build gangs, drill for oil, take over towns, etc. Would think it has alot going for it.

Oh as for Waterworld, I liked it but not as much as the Mad Max's. I like the idea of the world being flooded and all that's really left is some sparse lands and floating towns which were just really scraps of metal. I think it was a pretty original idea though.

aah yes, the plots were great and the actors performed well IMO. I tend to look beyond that though and appreciate the movies for becoming so great, despite the lack of visual eyecandy that is required in any new movie to make it popular. Mad Max didn't need that, they're above the rest out there. haha.

Aye, a MMO based on the mad max films would be interesting to see in the future, although I doubt anyone would dare to try. Simply because it does not have the same popularity across the world as AoC or lotr/matrix-online for example. I might just want to take that back though, since many MMO's out there has no real story and still managed to get a big playerbase. mad-max online is on my wishlist from now on

Oh… Mad Max!

I’d have to say that of the three films, Road Warrior would be my favorite, if only for the nonstop action throughout. Mad Max and Beyond Thunderdome were also good, but a little too slow for my taste.

Waterworld was also quite good, as was another of Kevin Costner’s post apocalyptic films The Postman.

Road Warrior no doubt. How can you not love that semi scene? One of the best action sequences ever filmed.

For you all who say you liked "Road Warrior" the best you have to admit the only reason that is because of the dude with the assless chaps...isn't that right? j/k

I'd have to say that for me it was "Beyond Thunderdome", the thunderdome fight scene was cool.

As for "Waterworld" I thought it deserved better reviews, too many critics bashing it. If I thought it was bad I wouldn't have bought it.

btw: Postman was good too.
