Memoirs of a Geisha

I was at a store and this looked kind of interesting. I bought it and watched it later that night. It's about a young girl who was sold off by her parents into a geisha house. A geisha is basically a female escort, but think in a real prestigious art'sy type of way. They were highly sought after, especially the more famous ones. The whole story is basically her life as she grows up from a little girl to somewhere in her 20's I believe. I don't want to say to much, otherwise I'll start revealing some of the plots. It takes place in the 1930-1940's era.

The scenery is an A+ in my book, very well done. The acting was also top notch, each actor/actress did their part. I didn't know what to expect when I bought it, but I'd like to say that it's well worth the money..

"Two Thumbs Up!!"

Just watched this after all this time again, still a good movie. I think the "Chairman" guy is also the same guy that played the last Shogun in the Last Samurai.

I own this DVD too, Req. I love the richness of set, time and acting. Was awesome piece of history to learn about too. Dal didn't care for it. I think it moved too slowly for him but I like strong but subtle plots......and I have a soft spot for Asian film for some reason.

I like deep movies, I also like action-packed thrillers too like most guys.. but sometimes it's nice to watch something that's "different". I like the setting of the movie, the scenery was great too.
