Battlestar Galactica: Razor
I ran a search and came up with a couple of hits; however the posts dated back to 2 years ago. (makes me wish i discovered this forum back then) Is anyone still watching this show and movie? or have you moved on to other shows. it seemed as though it has numerous followers on this board. Are you guys still around. Sorry if this becomes just another duplicate thread that causes some consolidation problems.
I just wanted to shout out and say how great this show is. I almost brushed it off when i first heard about it, but i stuck through it and was so surprised. It raises so many great questions about race, gender, and identity that resonate within our own hearts, and it does all this thru a great action sci-fi medium. Also, i do have one new question, so this cant be entirely a duplicate thread. I was wondering if anyone knew how the recent writer's strike will affect this show. Right now, we are in the middle of season 4. Is there going to be a hiatus in the middle of the season, as is the case with some other shows. That would be tragic. Well, i suppose i could always watch the original; however, i've heard the new one is vastly superior... BSG ftw!

Dal and I are major followers of BSG. Also saw the Razor movie. This is the final season and there will not be a fifth, but I don't know if there will be a break in it.
BSG does rock but season 4 is a huge let down for me. It becomes more and more apparent that there are an underlying christian paralells being put forward. The idea that there is only one true god and that pantheons are not real, that god has a plan for us, the idea that there are 12 tribes and a missing one. There were 12 tribes of Israel and musings of missing ones as well.....yadda. I have other probs with the show but generally, the first season kicked ass and opened a lot of doors, the following seasons were disappointing for me. Examples: One plot line and here is a fleet of humans jumping all around the uncharted universe and the only things that they come in contact with are their own creations, the Cylons......no other life forms ever. Another underlying Christian message?

But as for the unpopulated universe.. I know what you mean. Even the old BSG had some remote civilizations that they stopped at from time to time. In the new one, they could have had distant science and exploration labs, perhaps some sort of colonial breakaway groups from the distant past who set up their own little colonies.

Yeah, it really has taken a turn from the first and second season. Characters losing the identities I loved in them -- SB, Lee, and Sol!!!! > a frakkin Cylon now. Lame! but I guess ok. Chief is losing it as well, - one of my fav chars! Anyways, its still enjoyable and I watch it every week. I hope some of the chars come back to season 1/2 indentities, but some prob won't. -Blorc

It has parallels but the entire show is anti-religious in that the audience knows theres no god, gaius is crazy and that his miracles are fake, the non-existance of the pantheon is the same as the non-existance of god, sort of like a pagan/christian duality we saw after christ, and here, gaius is christ.

My wife and I wait for the DVD so we can watch it straight through so we haven't seen any season 4 yet. We've seen and enjoyed the rest of the seasons and Razor. I too think Sol being a you-know-what was stupid - nearly jumped the shark IMO.
I've heard second hand talk of a new mini series or movie based on Adama's years in the service prior to the attack. |
