My next purchase is gonna be an acoustic 12 string (that can be amped). I own an electric bass, electric guitar, and an acoustic guitar. Out of all those 3, the acoustic is my favourite one to play.
Great sound, no gear to drag around. And it's a lot more forgiving than an electric. The electric amplifies all your mistakes. There is one big plus to learning on an electric though. Your fingers will not hurt half as much, or for half as long. It takes a few weeks of steady playing to build up enough callouses to play an acoustic guitar for more than 30 mins at a time. And if you stop playing regularly, the callouses go away. The electric can be played without much discomfort, even if it's been forever since you last played. Whatever you choose to learn on, just remember: if you get the guitar bug, you can always add other axes to your collection ![]()
