Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I'm a big fan of the Call of Duty franchise. Maybe not the console releases, but I have really enjoyed the PC games: Call of Duty, the expansion pack United Offensive, and Call of Duty 2.

The developers have been celebrated for their ability to make it feel like you're in a WWII movie with very cinematic, epic, and emotional scenes throughout the singleplayer experience.

Now they're done with WWII, and they're moving on to the modern era just like the Battlefield franchise has. From the looks of it, the game will be a very visually pleasing game with the same punch of the previous titles in the singleplayer category.

IGN PC has posted a three page preview of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare along with some new screenshots.

GameTrailers has posted several videos of gameplay on the console versions of the game. These are in-game footage.

This one shows American troops crossing a bridge and getting ambushed. It shows how nightvision works in the game. The laser sights are particularly nice.

The Bog Rescue Gameplay HD

This video is an interview with one of the developers showcasing the weapons and vehicles implemented in the game. Features new in game footage. He says there are about 30 guns now with additional attachments. It looks like we're still riding shotgun with vehicles though. He only describes the weapons of the AC 130, but the video shows tanks and other cars.

The developer talks about the graphical evolution of the game. He also explains that the setting of the game is fictitious and has nothing to do with the war in Iraq. The bad guy is a Russian internationalist who wants to bring back the Soviet Union with the aid of a Middle Eastern buddy of his. In the video, the player shoots through a wall inside of the boat in order to kill an enemy on the other side.

And the last new video, an interview with the military advisor to the game. Self explanatory.

When you get hit, you fall to the ground and take out your pistol. You can keep fighting while wounded and wait to regain health, or you can, I assume, commit suicide (Coward's Way Out?).

Anyone else think the guy in the Blackhawk with the cigar is a throwback to the handlebar-mustached British commando from Call of Duty 1?

Captain Price you mean? That man is a beast. I love that scene in Call of Duty 2 when you're in North Africa where his vehicle (or building?) explodes. The next scene is him walking out of the smoke while carrying some other guy on his back.

Does look pretty good. The CoD games are pretty fun and well made, I'll probably end up getting it.

Updated the OP with videos released today on GameTrailers. Looks like the game is console only.

The official press release says PC, so there will be a PC version unless Infinity Ward explicitly says so.

Thanks for those videos. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay looks awesome. I'm looking forward to seeing the multiplayer.

I hope they revive the United Offensive multiplayer mode with the ranking system. They'll probably just do the typical deathmatch bullshit that they've done recently though -_-

I really didn't like how Call of Duty 2 just made the multiplayer into Halo.

btw that guy with the handlebar mustache in the chopper is Captain Price. Check the name when the cursor goes over him in the footage.
