As I said, this game is micro management but on steroids, jeez.

I was trying to find where to fix the taxes and ended up splitting my army lol

Haha.

I think it's somewhere in the county panel (left side of screen). I messed with mine before, hiked everything up to 100% lol. I don't think people liked me after that.

[edit:] Well Odo dies this time without an heir, but I selected "oldest male family member" as the inheritor, so Count Robert of Cornwall inherited Kent. So that means I have 2 counties. It's cool because you can select how to inherit, and tons of other options.

All right, so the keyboard "pause" button actually pauses the game but lets you manage your land

And keeping some balance between high Burgher power and Nobility to make money, get knights and archers

Now I gotta figure out how to make more units

Well I played a bit more last night. I think it's a pretty fun game, it gets deep the more political ties you have, the more people you have, the more allies and enemies you have.

About a year into the game Duke Malcolm tried laying claim to the title "King of England", in otherwords he was making a move for the royal crown. King Robert raised his banners and called all vassals to raise their armies, which included mine. I sent about 1,200 soldiers and many other's which includes various counts and dukes sent a lot more. The King had about 40,000+ soldiers in a matter of days. The army moved north and defeated the Duke. The Duke was forgiven, but was forced to give some land and titles to the King, but he still remained a Duke.

My Count lived for a little while, but him and Maude never produced any children. So I had no direct heirs... so the line of Kent was extinguished. Luckily the game allows you to change various types of laws, which also includes succession and inheritence (which can cause issues between sons, relatives, etc, so be careful!). I knew Count Odo was dying, he went on a boar hunting trip (it's one of the ways you gain allies, improve relations, as well as good/bad traits depending on what happens) along with Count William of Surrey, one of his close allies and neighbors. Count Odo was wounded during the hunt, but that didn't stop him. He just couldn't take charge of armies anymore due to the wound, so basically he was bed-ridden. Then about 2 weeks later he fell very ill. He struggled on for a few more months until he eventually died. The next heir in line was Count Robert of Cornwall, due to me strategically changing the way of succession was handled while Count Odo was on his deathbed. Count Robert included the estate of Cornwall, a small stone castle and the Cornwall lands. So when Odo died, the dynasty lived on by bringing Count Robert into the family. So Count Robert held the title of "Count Robert of Cornwall and Kent". Too bad the lands weren't that close, if I would have say.. gotten the lands of Sussex or Surrey I could have tried to raise myself to duke.

I believe building forts, training areas, and etc raises your troop amount. Just click on the little city map picture and red outlines of buildings will pop-up. You can create new buildings that way, but they take a while to make and are not cheap.. well not cheap to a Count lol.

Also I think there are some sliders you can re-arrange, such as taxes and payments, you can raise or lower it or whatever to field more soldiers.

Edit: Also... I think the rating of your marshal makes a difference. You can assign people to various positions by clicking on your character portrait, then I believe clicking on the shield (at work, can't check). Then that little screen pop's up, click on the people in the background.

This sounds very interesting and would probably pick it up myself if I had any time.

So for the mean time, all I ask is that you keep re-counting your stories - I love listening to the drama!

Got all that down, the army is what's bugging me, I keep only having the same 90 while neighboring Counts have 400s and so on...

On the research tab, you can research 1 of each category at once or only the last one you clicked?

I wonder if we're looking at the same numbers for soldiers. Because when I raise my banners or whatever that was called to gather troops, I usually have about 600-1200 soldiers, at least that's for when I'm in Kent. I haven't played any other county's, so maybe it's different there.

I'm still looking into the research aspect, I haven't messed around with that too much yet.

FAQ about research: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...d.php?t=139359

I did notice even if you get a "red dot" in one of military, one of resource and one in education researchs, you only research one at a time, the one you stamp, if you have the pre-req.

Raise flags eh? I just moved the army figurine I had

You don't keep your army figurine on your province at all times do you? If so, your probably paying an arm and a leg having a standing army like that lol.
