I'm actually surprised by how far and fast they've come with that game considering they've been working on that title for only a short time. Some of the game points the video makes sounds interesting (morale and public quests!) And being skill based doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, I'm hoping it does really well....I'm gonna check it out just for the sake of the "name brand". I've come to love all things done by Games Workshop....hell even their books are pretty awesome. One thing I saw in a video from gamespot (during the stage show I believe) was how the whole RvR thing was gonna work.
Each area was gonna have a PvE area, with a small PvP close by. So you could actually be taking out mobs by yourself, look across a river, and see people battling it out in PvP. Another cool aspect they talked about was the whole fighting for your town. You could fight through your enemies town one by one, until you got to their capital. That should make for some pretty intense gameplay. Just think, you log in and your grabbing some supplies from a vendor and all of a sudden the hordes of chaos are running through the streets. What was once a peaceful marketplace has turned into a bloody stand between "good" and "evil" (Hordes of Chaos FTW). |

all this stuff sounds great, I just hope the combat is interesting. Unfortunately they won't be going the AoC route, but it better be pretty deep. |

If I interpret the video correctly it looks to me that they are attempting to inter-relate both the PvP-RvR-and PvP aspects in the game.
This is something I've been looking for for some time. I've been in a (seemingly) vain search for an MMO that can take all these aspects and contribute it to a whole. I keep looking for a game that no matter what the action, be it PvP-PvE, that it somehow affected the gameworld as a whole. To make an example: Let's suppose that in AoC there is a quest that is repeatable to benefit your faction (I know factions will not really be a part of things in AoC. It's mostly GvG but stay with me) but say reducing soul corruption for mages. but think of it like a see-saw. In order for your faction to get the + benefits you will need to bring the opposing factions benefit down to their base. in otherwords you if the opposition is at +1 you would need to complete the quest twice to get the +1. Once to level the field and again for the +1. This maybe a bad example to make but I hope you all understand the point I'm trying to make. A means where the PvE world can make a contribution to the war effort in PvP/RvR. |
