I played a little of Diablo I for the first time a couple of years ago (after it was dated) and a little of Star Craft I a few years ago (also after it was dated) and so I feel quite out of the loop. I was always a big fan of the Warcraft series more than anything so when WoW was released I was mega pumped.

Diablo III does look pretty cool, but do I have to have loved the first 2 to appreciate the 3rd? From a non Diablo fanboi perspective, it doesn't look that special. Quite pretty, but not particularly innovative, an updated Baldurs gate or Gauntlet for example?

Just throwing this out there. I've got an open mind and I'll keep following it to see if all the hype sucks me in.

Diablo, in my mind, is a dungeon runner. There are always some bells and whistles added to it, but in its essence it just looks like a dungeon runner to me. I've played several dungeon runners. I enjoy them. If you like them I think you'll like Diablo III. I could be way, way off, though.

It is basically a dungeon runner. It is just always (D1 and D2) done so well that the game tends to transcend the tedium of running the same dungeon since there is just so much stuff going on at once.

So, yes... it is a game with a tad more hype than substance... always has been, but the game to many (including myself) is just a ton of fun due to how well the game is executed.

I've never played Diablo I or II, so when I heard about this, I was like "I'll probably get this."

After seeing the gameplay video, I was like "OMFG WHEN DOES THIS COME OUT?"

I had a D2 LAN party the other day with a few friends. It took a little while to install everything, but nonetheless we all had fun.

I very much look forward to seeing what classes they have in store. Sorceress, Amazon and Assassin were my favorites. I think I still like the Assassin the best after all this time. Something about those combo's and of course the traps, Corpse explosion trap? Yes please!

Even though I've never played a Diablo, I'm really looking forward to this. I will most likely be the Witch Doctor. I know everyone will, but I've always loved summoning and debuff classes. I occasionally do enjoy the nuking or support classes as well. Crap, I just love casters in general.

You might wanna play the Necro then. They will have to add that class or im leading a WAAAGH! on Blizz HQ. But they are designed to summon huge number of minions to fight for em. My fav class from Diablo 2

There's no way the necro is getting put in D3.
They stated in the gameplay video that there will be five classes and Witch Doctor is really just a corny version of the necromancer.
