Help. Crysis?

I have a similar system to the OP, 4 gigs ram on 32bit vista AMD dual core 4600+ and a BFG 8800 factory overclock. I run the game fine at 1364x768 most of the time around 30 fps EXCEPT when the jungle areas are snowed over >.<!

I am stuck on the evacuation mission where you gotta take dude to the burning piles of rubble to keep him warm after you exit the alien caves. I just can't hit the aliens because the framerate is so bad in the snow, even if I lower the resolution.

The rest of the game is freaking awesome though, I gotta admit. Should stand the test of time graphicly.

That is a very usefull site, really should have it and other usefull sites stickied somewhere. Didnt we have a usefull programs sticky way back when? or am i thinking of the good pc programs thread in the technical discussion forums? :S

Maybe I should get it. I currently have nothing to really test the power of this thing, just WoW and Counterstrike.

Like I said same card only one has a free Crysis oddly $20.00 more.

So I suppose if I over clocked the system I could run it on high.

The second one and Farcry 2 should be better coded though but thats not whats in discussion.

I'm on a 9800 GTX and I can run it all on very high but no way in hell can I run it on 1680x1050

The graphics are great but this is a game where you need to bind load and save as right click and left click (thank you yahtzee), the AI is terrible, the game is buggy beyond belief... I fell through the floor a good 10 times. The story is even dumber,not to mention it is beatable in 6-8 hours, and OMG the ending... I wanted to go up to the writers and just punch them and ask them WTF they were thinking.

Thanks, I'll just go with the regular one.

I'll probably get Farcry 2 though which is the same graphics with better coding.

CRYTEK the makers of Crysis are about to release a new stand alone Crysis game. When they do release it, they will release a patch for the original Crysis making the engine more efficient. This patch can make Crysis work fine on a 600$ machine. The game is probably going to be 20$ anyway very soon.

BTW Farcry 2 is on a different engine (not CryEngine 2 which Crysis used. CRYTEK unfortunately does not have the rights to Far Cry anymore), a in-house Ubisoft engine, Dunia to be exact, so it may or may not run better. It is also being developed by Ubisoft Montreal who made Assassins Creed, so if your comp can't run Assassins Creed very well, chances are you will not be able to run Far Cry 2 very well. Both games will have used different engines, but the dev's and their coding will be close to the same.

make it 4GB of RAM and you should be ok. Also, you'll need DirectX 10 for the graphics to be flawless.

And yes, I loved the game.
