General Questions

Hi,

I’m looking to join a Warhammer Online Guild and/or Age of Conan Guild, in preparation for their releases and I’m currently scouting out the potential guilds to find one that I’d fit in well with.

Let me tell you a little about me first; My RL name is Tony and I’m 26. I’m originally from the UK but moved over to the states (EST) in June. I played WoW for over 2 years before changing regions and being unable to play on the European servers. Pre TBC, I was part of a guild that cleared MC, BWL, AQ40 (except the eye) and some of Naxx. After TBC I completed half of Kara before quitting. WoW is the first MMORPG I’ve really gotten into in a big way and I’m hoping WAR and AoC will have me as hooked as WoW did. I’m also looking into playing Gods and Heroes, Hellgate: London and Pirates of the burning sea. In WoW, I generally played PvE but with the change in game type of WAR and AoC am happy to play as much PvP in order to get the most out of the game.

I found your guild information on the Warhammer Vault and you caught my eye.

I’d like to ask you some questions if I may:
1. How long has the guild/clan been formed for?
2. What is the average age would you say in the guild?
3. What’s the average maturity? What sort of topics go on in guild chat?
4. What percentage of PvE vs PvP would you say you generally do?
5. How many members do you currently have? How many of them will be playing WAR and AoC?
6. Do you use TS or Vent whilst playing and/or for socializing?
7. How hardcore are you? How many hours a week do you play and expect members to play?
8. Where does the guild see itself in 1 year?
9. What timezone are you generally in?
10. Do you Role play? (I don’t, but I could do with knowing this!)

I’m trying it this way as it’s really difficult to join a new guild when you have never spoken to or played with anyone from it before, especially when changing countries! I’m not sure what to expect. I’ll submit a full application after if you seem like a guild I may wish to join or you can just tell me right now I have no chance!

Thanks in advance

Tony (AKA Pani)

I’d like to ask you some questions if I may:

1. How long has the guild/clan been formed for?
We've been around since Jan/Dec 2005.

2. What is the average age would you say in the guild?
Probably 18-28, we have some younger, some older.

3. What’s the average maturity? What sort of topics go on in guild chat?
A bunch of different topics. I wouldn't call ourselves immature, but well.. we're not squares lol.

4. What percentage of PvE vs PvP would you say you generally do?
We have people interested in both, but seems like more want PvP.

5. How many members do you currently have? How many of them will be playing WAR and AoC?
148 or so members (we consistantly flush out inactives). I'd say 40/60 or so ratio for WAR/AoC of our population. The WAR section is a newer section started several months ago.

6. Do you use TS or Vent whilst playing and/or for socializing?
Vent. Usually a few to several people on everyday. Alot more are on when we all are playing a game.

7. How hardcore are you? How many hours a week do you play and expect members to play?
We have both casual and hardcore. We don't have a mandatory amount of hours you must play, although if it appears a person isn't around much at all they'll be removed. Guessing, probably we'll all play 12-20 hours average, with some less and a fair amount more.

8. Where does the guild see itself in 1 year?
Playing the games.

9. What timezone are you generally in?
I'm from the USA (founder), so midwest.

10. Do you Role play? (I don’t, but I could do with knowing this!)
Some dabble, but we're not a RP guild.

Try reading the "About Our Guild" thread in this sub-forum. Might give you a better understanding.

Thanks for getting back so quick. It's hard to judge a guild unless you talk to the members directly.

I may write a proper application within the next couple of days.

The council will probably be able to answer these questions better than I, but I can give you some general information about the guild.

This guild was formed in December of 2005, so a year and a half.
2. What is the average age would you say in the guild?
The average age of the guild would be in the early-to-mid 20s. We have some younger and some older of course.
3. What’s the average maturity? What sort of topics go on in guild chat?
From my point of view, the guild is very mature when compared to other guilds. Sure, we like to joke around and such, but we aren't squabbling about petty subjects (for the most part )
4. What percentage of PvE vs PvP would you say you generally do?
Seeing as neither game has been released yet, it's hard to say. I'd guess it was 75% PvP, and 25% PvE.
5. How many members do you currently have? How many of them will be playing WAR and AoC?
Currently we have close to 150 members total. AoC has a few more members if I remember correctly from the last roll call. Caps for each game have increased to 150 each. Also, the leader (Requiem) and the Council do regular roll calls, removing members who have been inactive for an excessive period of time.
6. Do you use TS or Vent whilst playing and/or for socializing?
Yes, we currently have a Ventrilo server set up for members to get to know each other better while waiting for the games to be released.
7. How hardcore are you? How many hours a week do you play and expect members to play?
To my knowledge, Requiem has stated that he won't force members to play a certain amount of hours per day/week. He and the council understand that family/work comes before a video game.
8. Where does the guild see itself in 1 year?
I'll let the Council/Requiem answer this one
9. What timezone are you generally in?
We're everywhere. We have Eastcoast, Westcoast, Canadians, Europeans, and generally everything in-between.
10. Do you Role play? (I don’t, but I could do with knowing this!)
The guild as a whole doesn't role-play, but we do have members who enjoy roleplaying.
My replies are in red.

Not officially. We're a WAR/AoC guild, both games are not out yet. We're a pretty active guild for not playing a game huh? lol.

Ohhh gotcha, I was kinda wondering about that. Fair enough. I'll mess around in LOTRO for a while then, and get into AoC when it comes out.

As Req said, we are pretty active despite the fact that we are not all playing one (or two) games at the moment. Presently quite a few people are still playing WoW, a handful play BF2142, and the rest are just kind of playing whatever suits their fancy (or fills the time) until AoC/WAR come out (personally I'm playing Neverwinter Nights 2 and WoW occassionally).
