Help with my pc
Hey guys and girls,
I need help with my pc, hopefully you all can find whats wrong Recently (today) i bought a new motherboard for my computer, which was using a agp motherboard before This motherboard is PCI-e and i bought a 8800gt graphics card with it, and my processor is a 487 intel pentium 4. Everything is in fine and is running except the graphics card, and i cannot get a picture on my monitor wether be through the graphics card or the motherboard, any suggestions? P.S. I had bought some ddr2 ram at 800mhz or ghz, but my motherboard is 667, will the 800 work? |

First of all, you are going to have to reformat. Just so ya know...
Second, give us links to all the hardware you purchase/have if you want us to give it a serious look. Right now, it could be either the Motherboard, Video Card, A power cable not plugged into something (did you plug the power into the video card? Did you plug the P1 and P4 power lead into the motherboard?), Is your PSU sufficient enough to run an 8800 series card? If you have a pentium 4 in there, i'm guessing NOT. Are you sure the monitor is using the DVI connection if that is the one you are plugged into? You need to help us narrow it down more bud, haha. |

Ok so heres an update, I got my motherboard working, i was missing a 4 pin power cable to put in the motherboard to give it extra power, BUT my pny nvidia 8800 gt graphics card is not working, the problem is that whenever I put it into the PCI-E slot, it turns on and runs, but i get no picture! I even took it to a computer store where we tried it there and we got the same problem any suggestions?
The motherboard I am using is a biostar p4m900-m4 heres a link to it: BIOSTAR |

Ok, if the video card is properly placed and locked on it's slot, and you connected the 6 pin PCI-E power to the back of the card (yes the video card needs also a power connector), then your power supply might not be strong enough to supply the video card the power or amperage it needs.
If your power supply doesn't have a 6 pin connector, the video card should have brought an adapter for it. Now you did mention that you took it to a computer store and had the same problem, you took the entire PC to get tested or just the video card on another PC and it didn't turn on either? If the latter one then you might need to return it and have it changed.
