Proud Proudness
I just want to say how awesomely proud of my self I am for building my own computer. This must be that feeling a jedi gets after they construct there first light saber. I got a 4850, 2GBs RAM, and a 2.1 dual core. The processor isn't much but I'm very proud of my graphics card. And I hope to upgrade to 4GBs RAM soon.
It'll run WAR fine =), Crysis for that matter =p. I'm running the 4850 at 48C with one case fan =p. I keep messing with the fan speed just for fun (putting it to 0% than to 100% just to make it ROAR like a car enthusiast would rev the engine lol).

Okay, well I just got though the crysis demo (twice), and well, it was a experience. I overclocked the 4850 but it kept crashing, but the heat was at like 65C. After awhile I set the 4850 to stock and messed with the graphic settings in crysis and then it ran fine after a few tries that ended with mass artifacting. The end result was a mix of medium and high settings. With a 1280x720 res.
Over all I'm a very happy man .

Yeah there really hot cards. But it's because there single slot cooling.
For some reason I can go max graphics on crysis now (high because I don't have vista) with 1280x1024. Still can't go to 8x AA though. As if I had to break in the card? Weird.

4gb ram is pointless if you are running 32bit windows vista (or XP which is all 32bit)
its capped at 2 or 3 gigs? (i forgot... but i know its one of the two) in order to use 4gb ram you need 64bit Vista if you already knew that, disregard this ![]() and congratz on a good machine =)

Congrats on the first build! When I first did it i spent a month or two reading up on every guide i could and familiarizing myself with current computer components, reading reviews, etc. Its great when it all comes together.
![]() Anyways, sounds like your next upgrade should a case with better airflow! One case fan doesnt sound like its cutting it, you dont want anything cooking in there. First, lets see what your cpu temps are at: download Realtemp: techPowerUp! :: Download Real Temp 2.70 and tell us what your temps are at (for the cpu of course). Also, what dual core did you get? A month or two ago i upgraded my computer and bought a quad core, which puts off more heat. (used to idle 42-46 C in an antec 900 case with the stock cooler. I bought a $30 cooler and temps went down to 28-30 idle.) So i think your main issue now is a better case with better airflow, you have a lot of options! I know it may be a pain to pull everything out of one case and reconnect it in another, but your getting more practice and you'll be better off in the future if you choose to do so.
